Risks of Unregulated Copy Trading Platforms: What Investors Must Know
The Ukrainian National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC) has added Aura Capital Invest to its list of dubious investment projects, flagging the platform for offering copy trading and brokerage services without a license.

The August 6 notice also names Comfortrade and Broox, all three operating without Ukrainian offices or capital-markets registration. For social trading users, the action is a direct signal: copy-trading features carry no regulatory backstop when the underlying broker is unlicensed in the user's jurisdiction.
Unlicensed venues and signal routing
NSSMC's investigation found unrestricted onboarding of Ukrainian clients across the three platforms, with no verifiable licence for capital-markets activity. Aura Capital Invest markets copy-trading access alongside FX, crypto, equities, and other instruments — the recurring template of a wrapper site, aggressive acquisition funnel, and no home-jurisdiction regulator. The commission's stated risk is operational: account freezes or fund losses leave investors without legal recourse under Ukrainian law. Signal providers that route orders through such venues inherit the same execution and counterparty exposure as the broker itself, regardless of the strategy's track record.
Parallel enforcement pressure
ASIC has separately suspended the Australian financial services licence of GFA Capital Markets Ltd for five months, citing client money, reporting, and compliance failures. The action landed the same week as the NSSMC warning, illustrating that licensed CFD venues are not exempt from operational breakdowns. For copy-trading strategists routing through CFD intermediaries, venue-level suspensions translate directly to blocked withdrawals, orphaned positions, and broken signal pipelines. The August 2026 InvestingReviews comparison lists IG and Capital.com as top UK-facing venues — IG with 17,000 markets, Capital.com with 5,000+ across shares, FX, indices, and commodities. Both are spread-betting and CFD products; the published retail loss rates run 69% and 62% respectively. Useful as a fee and tooling baseline, not a substitute for licence verification.
Pre-allocation checks
- Confirm the broker's licence in your own regulator's database before subscribing to any signal provider or copy strategy.
- Map the full chain: signal provider → execution venue → fund custody. A licensed strategy on an unlicensed broker still exposes capital.
- Track regulator feeds (NSSMC, ASIC, FCA, CySEC) for suspensions and unlicensed warnings; venue status can flip within a quarter.
